Matching a Shopify payout — the lump sum Shopify deposits after netting out fees, refunds, and adjustments — back to the individual orders and receipts that make it up.
Shopify doesn't deposit revenue order by order. It batches everything from a settlement period — sales, refunds, chargebacks, and its own processing fees — into a single payout, then sends one lump sum. The bank statement shows one number; the store shows dozens or hundreds of individual orders. Reconciling the two by hand means pulling the payout report and manually tracing which orders, fees, and refunds it actually contains.
ClairFlo automates this: every payout is matched back to its underlying orders automatically, using a clearing mechanism that also handles marketplace-facilitator tax correctly. Only a genuine unexplained gap — not the fees and refunds that are supposed to be there — gets flagged for review. See Shopify features or read why Shopify payouts don't match QuickBooks deposits for the full mechanics.
